KINSELAS BREAK-IN LEAVES BANDIT SORE AND SORRY

Sydney’s Kinselas was victim to a criminal mastermind, orchestrating a cunning entry into the Darlinghurst pub and making off with a bag of convenient booty.

NSW Police report CCTV footage (below) caught a man around 4am yesterday (10 July) using what appeared to be a car jack to attempt to smash the front door of the closed Bourke Street venue.

After several attempts – including one where the object rebounded off the toughened glass into the man’s leg – he managed to shatter the lower panel of the door.

Reaching in to snatch a red bag left on the floor near the door, he hobbled off with bag and jack to a car waiting on the corner of Little Bourke and Campbell Streets, believed to be a silver Commodore with Queensland plates.

Surry Hills Police Area Command has commenced investigations, and released CCTV footage in the hope of identifying the man, shown wearing a dark hooded top and dark track suit pants with light-coloured writing on the sides.

Duty officer Inspector Asimacopoulos noted the expense of the damage to the glass door, but reported they had been informed that the contents of the bag was in fact just sand.

“Anyone who may have seen a disappointed man with a limp nearby is urged to contact police”.
