The encore performance of Sydney’s beloved live music haven, the Lansdowne Hotel, is set to take place in just over a week.
Thursday 15 June will see the Lansdowne reopen, with three “secret” gigs, announced at 7pm for kick off from 8pm each night.
Beyond the relaunch program, Music Feeds reports upcoming gigs by The Delta Riggs, Hard-Ons, Saskwatch, Gold Class, The Meanies and The Babe Rainbow.
As reported in April, the team behind the historic hotel’s revival are Jake Smyth and Kenny Graham – owners of Newtown’s uber-trendy Mary’s Burgers, and co-owners of Paddington’s Unicorn Hotel. Former operator of the Annandale Hotel, Matt Rule, has joined to manage band bookings.
After closing in 2015, the pub has seen a major renovation and fine-tuning of an upstairs band space, above a ground floor public bar sporting lounges and pub-grub.
Conceding they are not likely to make much money from the live music, the new operation seeks a stronger role in the Chippendale community as a place for congregation, hoping to attract a broader demographic of students from adjacent Sydney University, as well as locals.
