WAYMARK MOVE ON MILLMERRAN

The Volz family have sold both their Mill Inn Tavern and Sundowner Hotel in Millmerran in a package deal to growing Queensland outfit Waymark Hotels.

A town of the Southern Downs, in the Toowoomba Region, roughly 200 kilometres west of Brisbane, Millmerran is known as the ‘gateway to the outback’.

Like many rural towns, its pubs are championed as the “heartbeat of this community”.

The large format Mill Inn provides a public bar and gaming, function spaces, accommodation, beer garden, and the family appeal of a playground and putting course.

Set on a large block on main drag Campbell Street, the Sundowner also features a public bar with gaming, function spaces and accommodation, plus a bottleshop.

The Volz family bought the Sundowner in 2023, renaming it from the Ram’s Head Hotel.

The family has strategically reinvested in both hotels to provide what are described as “outstanding facilities” for Millmerran residents and visitors.

Following an approach by Waymark, both pubs were sold in a package deal reported to be more than $10 million.

This builds on Waymark’s Sunshine State collection, which already includes the Commercial Hotel Motel in Chincilla, Grand Hotel on Thursday Island, and both the Royal Hotel and famous ‘pub with no beer’, Lees Hotel, in Ingham.

The transaction was brokered by JLL Hotels. Agents declined to comment.
