SUGARMILL PATRON ARRESTED FOR PULLING FAKE GUN

A 23-year-old man has been arrested for drawing and waving around a fake gun in Keystone’s Sugarmill Hotel, in Kings Cross.

Around 9:30 on Saturday night in the Sugarmill’s Kit & Kaboodle, the man allegedly pulled the replica pistol out of his waistband, pointed it at another patron, then waived it above his head.

Inspector Paul Dunston from King Cross police station said “I’d imagine everyone dropped to the floor”.

The Hotel’s security tackled the man and he was detained until police arrived. A search of him found 13 capsules that appeared to be amphetamine.

He was taken to nearby Kings Cross police station, and charged with: armed with intention to commit a serious indictable offence, illegal firearms possession, serious assaults, supplying drugs, and dealing with the proceeds of crime.

The man has also been served a long-term banning order from all Kings Cross venues.
