The best of South Australia’s hotel industry were revealed at the 2022 AHA|SA Hotel Industry Awards for Excellence, at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre Tuesday night.
Around 900 people gathered to learn who had won the industry accolades, across 36 categories.
No stranger to the Awards podium, the big winner this year was the Stirling Hotel, taking the prized Best Overall Hotel – Metropolitan. The Adelaide Hills pub was said to have impressed the judges courtesy of its constant innovation and consistently high standard in dining, service and retail.
In demonstration of this, the Stirling also took home the awards for both Best Bistro Casual Dining for the Outer Metropolitan region, and Best Retail Outlet, which it shared with Marion Hotel.
Similarly impressive was the Loxton Hotel, which claimed the other podium title of Best Overall Hotel – Country, as well as both Best Bar Presentation and Experience – Country, and Best Redeveloped Hotel – Country, in recognition of its impressive recent renovations.
Considered one of the night’s special awards, the W.T. Spurr AO Award for Tourism & Regional Promotion was created in honour of industry icon Bill Spurr AO, who passed away this year. The recipient was the Watervale Hotel, which has become a leader in Clare Valley tourism.
The Watervale also took honours for Best Restaurant – General Division Country, for an impressive third year in a row.
Also backing up its status, winning Adelaide’s Best Restaurant – General Division Metropolitan for the third year in a row, was 2KW, which also picked up a joint winner title for Best Outdoor non-enclosed Facility – Metropolitan.
All winners of the AHA | SA Awards will automatically be entered into the AHA National Awards, to be held in Sydney on 28 November.
“South Australia can rightly claim to have some of the best establishments in the nation, from city to country, from the local pub to the luxury 5-Star hotel, and despite a challenging few years, South Australian hotels are continuing to raise the bar in terms of innovation, presentation and service,” pronounced AHA|SA General Manager Ian Horne.
“We are immensely proud to be representing this incredible industry.”
