SISTERS SELLING ACCLAIMED HOTEL AUGUSTA

Two sisters have listed their renowned community favourite Hotel Augusta, in Port Augusta West, north of Adelaide.

Famous for its beachside frontage, Hotel Augusta has been praised as home to one of the best schnitzels in Australia and for being one of the best country pubs in South Australia.

Set on a 2,090sqm site, the 1,650sqm two-storey hotel provides a front bar and adjacent deck overlooking the Spencer Gulf. There is also a popular saloon bar, gaming room with 17 machines, commercial kitchen and dining room seating around 90 people, with its own bar.

The pub is central to a shopping centre, retail and commercial properties, more hospitality and high-end residential, all driving year-round trade, and it has built a reputation for supporting local businesses, and sporting and community events.

There is immediate upside potential for a buyer in reactivating the unused upstairs, suited to functions or office space, as well as longer opening hours, under the general hotel licence.

Port Augusta West is a town of 15k residents, a little over three hours’ drive north of Adelaide.

Across the Bridge is Port Augusta – known as the “crossroads of Australia” as major highways converge here from Sydney, Perth, Darwin and Adelaide.

In 2018 sisters Heidi Johnston and Penny Pearce took on the hotel, with their respective partners, Nathan and Dale. They have reportedly cemented it as a tourist favourite and “a beacon for the local community”.

“Our hotel has been built on our passion for genuine hospitality,” says Heidi. “We love to serve cold beer and fresh food, and provide great service.

“Over the years we’ve invested in upgrading our facilities, refining our service and developing a strong professional team that shares our values and has become family.”

Now looking to retire, the ladies have listed the asset through McGees Property’s Grant Clarke.

“This is a rare opportunity to acquire the freehold and business of a high-performing, iconic hotel in a strong township,” he says.

“Any incoming owner stands to benefit from the huge goodwill that the name Hotel Augusta brings in Port Augusta, across South Australia, and beyond.”

The Hotel FGC is being sold via Expressions of Interest, closing Wednesday, 12 November.
