Riverland, a popular waterfront bar and kitchen on Brisbane’s Eagle Street Pier, opened for its big reveal on Monday 22 May.
Owners and veterans of pub revitalisation Australian Venue Co had spent $3.5 million on this latest project, including extending the existing riverside deck by 800 square metres.
The deck’s three tiers boast views of the Brisbane River and Story Bridge. Now with a 1,000-person capacity, seven drinking and dining spaces have been created across multiple levels, for almost any occasion.
Areas range from the exclusive Sky Deck, built on top of one of the new bar spaces to capitalise on views of the bridge, to a new live music stage.
The Promenade Deck has been designed as a gathering space, directly accessing the riverfront.
A further highlight of the renovation is the development of two kitchens, each operating out of shipping containers. The complementary styles of each ensure all visitors are well catered for, whether it’s their first visit or their fiftieth.
The first is quintessentially Queensland. Named The Queenslander, it serves modern pub grub with a distinct take on the Sunshine State. Pineapple never looked so good.
The second kitchen, the Traveller, focuses on global street foods with rotating menu options, which change from season to season.
Attention has also been given to the drinks menu, with excellent selections of wines, beers and modern cocktails.
Each week sees live performances and DJs from Wednesday to Sunday, while the large screen makes sure sporting events are prominent.
Australian Venue Co’s Chief Operating Officer Craig Ellison says the redevelopment is an exciting moment for the Eagle Street precinct.
“Eagle Street is back! With views of the iconic Story Bridge and Brisbane River, the open plan design and subtropical landscaping, and The Queenslander kitchen, Riverland is a quintessentially Brisbane destination,” he said.
Other projects of Australian Venue Co include The Wickham in Fortitude Valley, Crown Hotel in Lutwyche, Cleveland Sands in Cleveland and the Gold Coast’s Burleigh Town Tavern and Coomera Lodge Hotel.
