RESPECT IN HOSPITALITY: NSW RAISES THE BAR FOR INDUSTRY STANDARDS

This month a new venture between hospitality organisations and business peak industry bodies in New South Wales has unveiled a new website, RespectInHospitality.

The free site provides valuable resources along with training and templates for use by hospitality businesses so they can improve their systems and processes as well as keep on top of their legal responsibilities.

Business NSW, along with organisations including Hospitality Industry Insurance, Night Time Industries Association, the Australian Hotels Association NSW and ClubsNSW have come together for the first time to support the industry as a whole, working together to ensure best practice training across the industry.

Mick Gibb, CEO of the Night Time Industries Association, said the site provides tools that present businesses the support to have a clear understanding of their obligations, as well as help to implement systems and procedures.

“This project builds off the expertise of leaders in the industry to make sure standards and industry culture are advancing equally across all facets of the night time industries,” he stated.

“Together, we can ensure that businesses are better equipped for growth and continue advancing toward a more unified and thriving industry,” added Karl Schlothauer, President of the Independent Bars Association.

Chief Government and Regulatory Officer for ClubsNSW, Alison Tehan, said that while ClubsNSW has a long history of member education, it is keen for all hospitality staff to have the tools to understand their rights and responsibilities.

“Coming together as an industry to release this resource is a fantastic initiative,” Tehan commented.
