REGIONAL GASTRO PUB ON OFFER

The picturesque and acclaimed Tinamba Hotel in eastern Victoria is being offered for sale, as long-time owner Damien Gannon looks for a change.

The Tinamba is a charming country pub in Victoria’s Gippsland lakes region, around 200 kilometres east of Melbourne.

It has long been acclaimed for its fine country cuisine, earning it the AHA Victoria Award for Best Country Restaurant in 2012, and crowned De Bortoli’s Pub of the Year in 2015. This is in part due to its extensive onsite garden, bringing fresh produce to the table.

But after ten years at the helm, Gannon is eying a “change of lifestyle” and something different, and is marketing the pub himself, offering negotiable terms of operation, or even the whole property.

“It would be a new lease for someone who took over, or if they’re interested in buying the freehold that would be fine too,” says Gannon.

The pub offers a welcoming public bar and prized bistro, but the old accommodation rooms are used mainly for storage. It has had 120 solar panels installed, as well as solar hot water, greatly reducing operating costs.

The title includes a separate block of land, slightly away from the pub, that Gannon says would suit an even greater bistro garden, and next door to the pub is a house he owns, “which could be negotiated”, that is suitable for residential redevelopment.

He reports the business is trading well, particularly given his optimised schedule, believing it would best suit a professional couple maybe looking for a tree change.

“We’ve created the hotel for ourselves as a bit of a lifestyle. We only currently open four and a half days a week, and don’t really do nights, which could be an opportunity for someone else. If someone was more hands-on they could do really well out of it.”

The Tinamba Hotel is looking to offers on the lease starting at $350k. Enquiries through the website.
