The 158-year-old and highly awarded Sevenhill Hotel in the Clare Valley is seeking a new operator to continue its legacy in one of Australia’s premier culinary regions.
Sevenhill Hotel began life in 1863 as the Black Eagle Hotel, under the Kranewitter family. Its name was changed to the current moniker in 1918.
The pub provides an easily operated back-to-back main bar, gaming with five machines, commercial kitchen and dining room plus walk-in cellar with private dining facilities, weatherproof beer garden with large screen, and outdoor area with timber deck seating and lawns.
For nearly nine years it has been in the hands of husband and wife team Paul and Kate Longbottom, who have built on its appeal to the extent the country pub has taken home the Casual Bistro Dining prize at the annual AHA awards in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and again in 2021.
Sevenhill is less than 10 minutes from the Clare Valley township, or 90 minutes north of the Adelaide CBD.
The lease has 28 years remaining, including options, and the high turnover business is said to be very profitable, generating price expectation of $950k + SAV.
After the better part of a decade on the boil, the Longbottoms say it’s time to spend more time with their young family.
“There is not a cent to spend on this hotel,” relays Grant Clarke of McGees Property, who has been engaged to market the operation.
“Take advantage of the regional tourism uplift being experienced in this well-known wine region.”
The leasehold of the Sevenhill Hotel is being sold via private treaty.
