POLICE SEEK PUBLIC HELP IN MULTIPLE PUB CRIMES

Police have appealed for information from the public on several incidents of violence and robbery in pubs in New South Wales and South Australia.

Around 1am Wednesday (1 February), a man armed with a machete entered the gaming room of the hotel on Gowrie Drive at Whyalla, around four hours north-east of Adelaide.

He reportedly threatened staff, before stealing cash and fleeing the scene and was last seen running in a south-easterly direction.

No-one was injured during the incident, and authorities are hunting for the perpetrator – described as 25-30 years old, Caucasian in appearance, slim build, wearing a black jumper, dark-coloured pants, distinctive gloves with a large yellow star on top of the hand, and a balaclava.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.

SA Police continue to search for three suspects wanted in relation to the assault of an employee of the Seaton Hotel, shortly before midnight on 2 December last year.

It is alleged a staff member approached the group, who were inside the hotel, asking them to leave the premises for disorderly behaviour.

CCTV footage released shows the prelude to an altercation between the manager and three suspects, and the employee eventually being punched in the side of the head by one of the male suspects, out of view of the camera. The suspects then fled the Hotel, heading east on Ballater Ave.

Authorities were called. The victim sustained only minor injuries.

Police allege the suspects were of first nation (Aboriginal) appearance: a man around 19-years-old, 175cm tall, small build, short brown hair and beard; a woman around 18-years-old, 160cm tall, small build, long brown hair in a ponytail, and a man around 30-years-old, 178cm tall, solid build, short black hair and a full beard.

In Sydney, police are appealing for public assistance in the investigations of theft at a licensed premise in Haymarket on the weekend.

A man entered a hotel on George Street, Haymarket, at approximate 9am on Saturday (28 January), where he entered the gaming area and allegedly stole two cartridges from a cash dispensing machine.

He was last seen headed south, towards Quay Street.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command attended, and have now released the image of a man who they say may be able to assist with their inquiries. He is described as being of Middle Eastern / Mediterranean appearance, 25-30 years-old, medium build, with short black hair.
