One man is in custody and police are searching for another, following recent violent incidents in pubs.
Emergency services were called to a pub in Camden around 8pm last Friday (17 June), where officers from Camden Police Area Command found a 30-year-old man that had been struck to throat with a schooner glass.
He had sustained a serious cut and had to be treated by paramedics before being transported by ambulance to Liverpool Hospital for surgery.
Security had detained a 66-year-old man, who had sustained a laceration to his hand. He was also given treatment by paramedics, but allegedly became aggressive – punching a female police officer in the throat and attempting to get away.
He was subsequently escorted to Campbelltown Hospital, then to Camden Police Station and charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, common assault, and assault police officer in execution of duty.
The unnamed man was denied bail and due to appear before Parramatta Bail Court.
Meanwhile, police are still seeking a man wanted in regard to a serious assault in Byron Bay, and are now asking for help from the public.
On 3 June officers were called to attend the Great Northern Hotel, finding a 23-year-old man with serious facial injuries, having allegedly been punched by another man on the dance floor.
He was transported to hospital for emergency surgery.
Police have released images of a man and woman that left the scene, taken from the Hotel’s CCTV.
They depict a man in his 50s of Caucasian appearance, large build and short hair. The woman is also thought to be aged in her 50s, Caucasian, medium build, with shoulder length blonde hair.
