PHMG is working with developers on a brand-new family-friendly pub within a major new retail and commercial development in Hurstville.
Currently under construction, One Hurstville Plaza is a $60 million 14-storey office tower at 288 Forest Rd, between Westfield, Hurstville Central and the train station.
A proposal was lodged at the end of July for a new pub, on the building’s first floor, to be called The Hurstville Hotel.
An application was submitted on behalf of Coombes Property Group, developers of One Hurstville Plaza, and the Waugh’s Public House Management Group (PHMG) will be engaged to “oversee the operation of the Hotel”.
“The proposed design aims to achieve an up-market contemporary bar and restaurant, with a focus on creating a family friendly environment, and encouraging a safe and inviting precinct,” says the submission.
The pub is slated to include a main cocktail bar, gaming room with 30 machines and a small bar, indoor dining, including semi-private dining, outdoor dining with a private garden dining and an integrated retractable shade structure, and an outdoor lounge.
“The proposal is expected to have a positive impact in the community by increasing the diversity, provision and quality of night time uses within the city centre, in line with strategic aspirations for Hurstville.”
Space on the first floor of One Hurstville Plaza is zoned for retail, and the application will look to secure a hotel licence through ILGR.
Georges River Council is currently considering the proposal, with works estimated to cost around $3.2 million.
PHMG was approached for comment.
