OVER HALF OF AUSSIES LOOK TO PUB FOR ROMANCE

As the relentless march of technology permeates more and more of daily life, one tech company has found Aussies still think the best place to find love is in the pub.

Research by cashless payment app provider Clipp has found that over sixty per cent of people across all age brackets surveyed believe their local pub is the place where they can find love.

“If you think it’s all about finding your perfect match online, think again,” says Clipp.co CEO and co-founder Greg Taylor of the pub findings.

“I think the reason that they are a good place for a date is the calibre of food and range of drinks that many pubs are now offering – and many have revamped their restaurants or bistros, making the experience almost equivalent to high-end dining, but in a relaxed atmosphere.”

Surveying over 2,000 Australians, Clipp found the pub preference amongst:

  • 72 per cent of people in their 30s
  • 67 per cent of people in their 40s
  • 57 per cent of people in their 20s
  • 54 per cent of people in their 50s
  • 46 per cent of people in their 60s

The results are good news for industry, on the eve of a Valentine’s Day weekend.
