The O’Hara Group has expanded its presence in Parramatta, quietly opening an all-new brownfield pub in the heart of the CBD.
Station Hotel is a all-new, multi-level watering hole on Church St, opposite Westfield, for up to 450 patrons. It aims to attract both workers and local residents, touting “exceptional food, welcoming spaces and memorable moments”.
At street level it features a compact front bar, gaming and sports bar showing all the sports ‘live & loud’ on big screens.
On the upper level is a larger bar and dining area, offering a seasonal menu of local produce and elevated pub classics, plus a flexible function space for celebrations from milestone birthdays to corporate events.

There will be live music Thursday and Friday nights, and a DJ on Saturday nights.

“We love the Parramatta community and are excited to open this brand-new venue in the heart of the CBD,” says group principal Dan O’Hara.
The O’Hara Group has an impressive portfolio, already with a strong presence in Parramatta. It has long operated the nearby Collector Hotel, and more recently the historic Woolpack Hotel, and in 2021 similarly created a new home for the Camellia Hotel, opposite Rosehill Racecourse.
Planning documents on the Station build posed the development would revive a classic building and help to further activate the Parramatta CBD, being so close to the Westfield entertainment precinct and Parramatta Square. The submission proposed it could inject more activity into the southern end of Church Street, which it suggests has “suffered from a lack of development and investment over the past 20 years” bar the new residential towers.
A design where “Casual charm meets contemporary style” will cater for Parramatta’s ever-growing workforce and residential population.

In 2018 the O’Haras picked up the licence of the former Argyle Street Hotel, which was just 50 metres away prior to the state government acquiring it to upgrade the station and bus interchange.
Plans for the Station Hotel were approved in 2022, although the process and the site’s logistical challenges have hampered its completion until now.
Trading to 4am Monday to Saturday, and midnight Sunday, conditions were imposed that cap patron numbers at 200 after midnight, and a crime prevention plan outlined the need for CCTV cameras, approved lighting, graffiti-resistant surfaces and swipe cards for staff in restricted areas.
After several years of planning and hurdles, the Station Hotel Parramatta opened Friday (11 July).
“We have tried to create something for everyone, with fantastic pub food operating seven days for lunch and dinner,” continued O’Hara.

The family-run group has regularly made a practise of partnering with trusted allies, which sees Andrew Do step up as licensee and part owner.
“He and his team look forward to welcoming you to our new venue and discovering why ‘west is best’.”
