The NSW Government has extended trading hours for hotels and clubs during major events throughout 2020.
The decision was announced by Minister for Customer Service Victor Dominello, who suggests the later trading times will support major cultural and sports events that boost the NSW economy and create jobs and tourism opportunities.
“The extended trading means patrons can gather and socialise at venues later at night during and after these special events.”
Almost all of the specified extensions apply to Sunday nights, when licensed venues are typically restricted to 10pm trading.
Most extensions also apply state-wide, prompted by Australia Day and major sports events such as the Australian Open tennis, State of Origin, NRL Grand Final, and the Men’s and Women’s T20 cricket finals.
Some local area extensions will apply, such as for Vivid in Sydney, the Coonamble Rodeo and Campdraft, the Bathurst 1000 and the Newcastle 500 motor race. Last night the Tamworth region benefitted from an extension due to the Tamworth Country Music Festival.

The extended hours do not apply to takeaway alcohol sales, and venues must still comply with any individual trading restrictions or other special conditions on their licences.
Hi Clyde
This is a great outcome however I wonder how many hotels have there trading hours in their plan of management and DA and won’t be able to use the intended idea which is for the people of the state and to stimulate the economy
