A brand-new hotel lease with long-term tenure is being offered off the plan, the Market Tavern is to be completely rebuilt directly, located opposite the iconic South Melbourne Markets.
Destined to be a multi-levelled destination offering, the Tavern will be strategically positioned in one of Melbourne’s burgeoning food and beverage precincts, on the doorstep of the CBD and Melbourne Exhibition Centre.
The high foot traffic location will draw custom from the surrounding Southbank and Clarendon Street retail, eateries, boutiques and galleries, and future commercial and retail developments in the pipeline.
Slated for 1,150sqm, it will be a high-capacity and trading platform, with a premium, quality design by hospitality architects Red.
Plans for the Market Tavern include a bar, cocktail area, whiskey corner and extensive outdoor seating on the ground floor, an upmarket restaurant and bar on level one, showpiece kitchen and interactive dining and bar space on level two, and rooftop bar with casual dining areas and multi-million-dollar views.
An adjoining building, servicing each level via stairs and a lift, will be fronted by a glass façade to create a truly unique focal point.
Final aspects of the design, including floor plans and layout, offer the opportunity to customise the end result to suit the tenant’s model.
The operation is being offered on a new long-term lease, citing attractive terms and fit-out incentives.
It is being marketed by CBRE Hotels’ Jason Orenbuch, Mathew George and Scott Callow, who suggest it is a prime opportunity “to create an icon”.
“We see this as a game changer for the hospitality sector, in particular in the South Melbourne precinct, as the long-term freehold owners are keen to retain the Hotel property and in essence partner with an experienced operator,” says George.
