NEW LOOK CLEVELAND SANDS PUSHING ENTERTAINMENT

Australian Venue Co reopened Cleveland Sands Hotel this week after an extensive $1.65 million renovation to position the venue as a hub for live music, entertainment and sport.

The Cleveland Sands has been a popular part of the Brisbane coastal community since it opened in 1930.

The works were predominantly to upgrade the pub’s Sports Bar, and to the beer garden, becoming a “vibrant and inviting” space for over 250 patrons.

Inside the expanded Sports Bar there are big screens throughout, backed by a brand-new stage and AV fit-out to optimise the experience.

Physical changes accompany the updated weekly entertainment schedule, featuring a Funky Bunch Trivia Night, Karaoke Night, live bands every Friday, DJ sets every Saturday – being a mix of headliners and resident DJ Bose – and Sunday sessions with live music and DJs.

There will also be monthly events, such as comedy shows and drag bingo.

Complementing the venue and entertainment boosts is a refreshed menu, with favourites focusing on Queensland produce, and a new cocktail and wine selection.

“We’ve created a new entertainment hub and go-to destination for the local community to get together; the place to enjoy music, sport, food and beverage all under one roof,” says venue manager Andy Hibbert.

The reopening will be celebrated with a weekend of special events, taking place 5-7 August.

Friday will be ‘Locals Welcome Night’ offering complimentary chef snacks and a welcome drink on arrival, and an Oyster Shucking station, to the tunes of party bands Phat Sauce and The Ivory Street Preachers from 8:30pm.

Saturday continues the entertainment drive, where complimentary chefs snacks will be available throughout the day, served to tunes well into the night, headlined by a double-header DJ night spinning Bombs Away and Kaitlyn, plus resident DJ Bose, from 9pm.

Sunday will ease the pace with Sunday session, playing Soul Collective Electro Disco DJs from 2pm before ramping up again to late-night party band Captain Thunderbolt on the main stage in the evening.
