MAN RAMS PATRONS INTO PUB WITH 4WD

CCTV footage has emerged of a man driving a 4WD into the front of a Darwin pub, through a group of patrons that had just beaten him outside.

The video obtained by 9News shows several people punching, dragging and stomping the head of 38-year-old Dale Talbot outside Darwin’s Six Tanks brew-pub, in the early hours of 6 December last year.

Joey Hazlebane (25), Wade Hunter (32), and Karlla Garling (30) have all subsequently been charged over the assault.

Escaping the beating, a highly intoxicated Talbot got into his Landcruiser and began to drive away.

The CCTV from outside the pub (below) shows one of the crowd that had harassed him throw a chair at the vehicle. Whether previously intended or not, Talbot suddenly swerves into the crowd, ramming one man through the glass walls and door.

Surprisingly, the man jumps up and runs away, before returning to the car to allegedly throw punches at the driver, alongside another man and a woman.

A lawyer for the three charged told a Darwin court all three will plead guilty to engaging in violent conduct and fighting in a public place, but Ms Garling will contest the charge of aggravated assault. They will return to court 9 April.

Talbot has been charged with recklessly endangering life, dangerous driving, driving with a high-range blood alcohol content, and criminal damage. He has remained in police custody since the incident.

His family blame the assault for his behaviour. He will face a hearing this month.
