A UK man has lost his vehicle, after a trip to the pub carried on through high tide.
Britain has some of the most loyal pub patrons in the world, and a resident of Exmouth demonstrated his dedication with a protracted visit to his local, within the popular Imperial Recreation Ground.
The man parked the van on what was in fact a tidal slipway, according to a report by Metro.co.uk.
After a suitably good time the man headed home, reportedly forgetting all about his mode of transport.
Parts of the UK have extremely high tidal shifts, and Exmouth often sees fluctuation between high and low of nearly four metres.
The following day another local resident spotted the vehicle floating down the estuary, and its owner returning to find it not where it was left.
“The windows were down so I don’t think he intended to leave it for any length of time,” said the onlooker. “He said he went to the pub and forgot about it.”
