KICKON WELCOMES A NEW VENUE AND STAKEHOLDER

The fast-growing Kickon Group has taken its next step into Queensland, and kick-started its progressive new Pub Partner Program.

Kickon has now settled on the iconic Osbourne Hotel in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley, which is its first official acquisition since rebranding from Collective Heads in September.

The Osbourne Hotel was established 1864, and has been operated for years by the Fitzgibbons’ family. It joins the Kickon portfolio, spanning Queensland and Victoria, which includes The Collective Palm Beach, the Plough Inn Southbank, The Continental Sorrento and The Terminus in Fitzroy North.

Kickon’s mission is to create ‘environments that inspire amazing experiences’ and it touts a strategy of buying and growing the right high-volume f&b pubs. Interest in the historic Osbourne was reportedly largely in response to its vibrant atmosphere.

“It is an amazing venue with exciting growth opportunities, including opening additional days and widening the food offer by utilising our expertise in high quality pub dining through group executive chef Jake Furst,” offers group principal Craig Shearer.

“We love that it’s an entertainment-based venue. Nothing makes us more excited than being in one of our venues when they’re alive and jumping.

“Regular and existing customers can expect The Osbourne to continue to carry on its traditional events and activations all through summer, and we look forward to building on their successful program in 2022.”

Shearer’s outfit has also taken to greater investment and development in its own people, prompting the launch of the Kickon Group Pub Partner Program.

Richard Harrison

Richard Harrison – former venue manager of the Plough Inn – has been given the opportunity to get his foot in the door, as a first-time owner at The Osbourne.

“Nothing brings me more joy than being able to offer the opportunity of pub ownership to key members of our team through the Pub Partnership program,” says Shearer.

“Richo is well deserving of the opportunity and we can’t wait to see how The Osbourne performs under his steady hand.”
