A classic Queenslander all-rounder has come to market in the Julia Creek Hotel of Julia Creek.
The two-storey family-owned pub in Queensland’s north-west minerals province enjoys diverse revenue streams, through food and beverage facilities, retail and accommodation.
It offers public bar, dining room, commercial kitchen, beer garden and bottleshop, as well as 11 pub-style hotel rooms and three cabins, on a 1,316sqm corner site.
Julia Creek is an outback town in McKinlay Shire, around 650 kilometres west of Townsville, or 1,600 north-west of Brisbane.
The pub is conveniently located a block off the Flinders Highway through town, across from the Julia Creek railway station.
Ben Knight bought it in February 2020 from David Wyld, who had been there since 2004.
Not a traditional hands-on publican and with a number of other business interests, Knight hasn’t played a huge role in the day-to-day business operations but is seeking to lessen his general workload.
The town is set to benefit greatly from increased activity and population stemming from major works in the area.
“The recent State Approval announcement of the Saint Elmo Vanadium Mine, approximately 25 kilometres east of Julia Creek, with construction expected to begin in 2022, is going to be huge for the region,” notes Savills’ Christian Tsalikis, who is marketing the asset with colleagues Joseph Wing and Joseph Ganim.
“Businesses such as the Julia Creek Hotel Motel are well placed to capitalise on the increased jobs and labour force this will bring.”
The freehold going concern of the Julia Creek Hotel is being sold via Expressions of Interest, closing Thursday, 28 October.
