The Isaac brothers have submitted a new plan for a major greenfield development in the Liverpool LGA, proposing a suburban pub with all the trimmings for a rapidly growing community.
Isaac Property Developments P/L has entered the revised DA with Liverpool Council for the Austral Hotel, slated for 362 Bringelly Rd in Austral, in Sydney’s south-west.
The plans put forth a $9 million development stretching to its height limit of 12 metres and catering to up to 900 patrons, featuring a sports bar and terrace, bistro and dining area, gaming room with bar, two function spaces, and a kids’ play area, with basement parking for 180 cars.
The Hotel is expected to employ around 40 staff and hopes to operate until 1am Monday to Saturday.
Isaac Property Developments is Ben and Jono Isaac, who bailed out the flailing Boathouse Group in 2019. The brothers have built over 100 shopping centres around the country.
Two years prior, they had already acquired the land in Austral, which is seeing significant residential growth.
Having decided a pub was the site’s best use, largely due to its location at Austral’s main intersection, they submitted an application to Council in 2021, but it was refused, and resolution sought in the Land & Environment Court.
The new application came about in an effort to resolve disputes between the parties, and the brothers say it will be a “focal point” for the rapidly growing community and contribute to the amenities needed by residents in emerging precincts.
The Austral will be operated by the Isaac family.
Timing on a decision by Liverpool Council is not known at this stage.
