HOW TO RECOGNISE AND MANAGE INTOXICATED PERSONS

The Victorian liquor regulator has released a useful guide for operators, outlining how staff can identify and properly manage intoxication.

The VGCCC (former VCGLR) stresses that intoxication is a high-harm issue, and should be top-of-mind for licensees, managers and staff.

To help prevent and manage intoxicated patrons, it has released a video highlighting five key areas:

  • the definition of intoxication
  • the VGCCC intoxication guidelines
  • how licensees can prevent intoxication at their venue
  • how licensees should manage refusing service to intoxicated patrons
  • how to identify a standard drink

The video is a resource for hospitality workers, providing a recap of what to keep in mind.
