HOSPO CALLS TO ‘PUT A JAB ON THE MENU’

Some of the biggest names in hospitality have teamed up to implore Aussies to ‘Put A Jab on the Menu’ to help the industry get healthy again.

The national Put A Jab on the Menu campaign is promoting people to do the only thing that will save many pubs, restaurants, bars and cafes, which is for everyone who can to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

The idea for the initiative came from marketing professional, artist and creative director David Nobay, who has a son and many friends who are chefs.

Motivated by the suffering of the hospitality industry he organised some of Australia’s best creative minds, who have donated 100 per cent of their time and talent.

They approached well-known chefs and restaurateurs, who all instantly signed on to help get the industry open again, and worked around rolling lockdowns and restrictions to overcome the challenges of filming the campaign (below).

One of the first on board was acclaimed chef Guillaume Brahimi, who has become the industry ambassador and says people in hospitality are there because they want to bring happiness.

“But, regardless of our shared passion, there’s one thing that we can’t overcome, and that’s empty tables. I’ve been speaking to so many of my friends in hospitality and this time around could be what breaks them.

“Takeaway doesn’t make money for restaurants not set up for that; they are doing it mainly to keep their teams busy, and for mental health.

“Vaccination is the only way to save our industry and open it up again, without restrictions. If we don’t get it done, we’re going to lose some amazing businesses.”

Hospitality names to get with the program include Matt Moran, Danielle Alvarez, Neil Perry, Maurice Terzini, Anna UgarteCarral, Frank Camorra, Victor Liong, Shannon Martinez, Adam d’Sylva, Ross Lusted, Jacqui Challinor, Alex and Karla Munoz- Labart, Massimo Mele, Nick Holloway and Morgan McGlone.

They join a posse of collaborators, including production company Will Alexander, which created the integrated campaign across film, print, digital and radio, and Jeanine Bribosia, founder and director of hospitality PR stalwarts The Cru.
