HALLMARK REVIVES THE LEFTY’S LEGEND

Brisbane good-time venue Lefty’s is back, Hallmark Group reviving its systemic Americana and swinging the doors open again last week.

Lefty’s Music Hall is a honkey-tonk style venue with rockabilly flair on Caxton Street, in the heart of the Queensland capital.

The attractions include American-inspired snacks, such as cheeseburger spring rolls and miniature chicken burgers, a unique drinks menu including its signature Whisky Apple cocktail, and a strong focus on live music and performance.

Hallmark undertook to revive the Brisbane icon, pledging the same jaunty originality, southern flair and devotion to international entertainment. The project strove to preserve the venue’s unique characteristics; vintage chandeliers, scarlet walls, giant gilt mirrors, black leather candlelit booths, and an opulent curved bar, all overlooked by moose heads, a bear and a peacock mounted on walls.

“Everyone has a story at Lefty’s,” notes group marketing manager Tammy Wood. “It has so much history within its walls and we wanted to be a part of preserving that. We look forward to bringing Lefty s back to life.

“We’re excited to re-create and re-energise what everyone loved about Lefty’s and more. The entertainment is what makes this venue one of a kind.”

Last Thursday (27 February) ushered a VIP launch event from 7pm, and general admission from 10pm.

The opening live performances came courtesy of bands West Texas Crude and The Honey Sliders.

Reported “a great success”, Wood says the group’s plan to bring back what was is no accident.

“It’s important to us to maintain the iconic and authentic experiences intrinsically linked to the Lefty’s brand — the live entertainment, the Americana eats and the Whisky Apples heavily ruling the bar — that’s what will reignite the nightlife on the iconic Brisbane strip we knew so well.”
