Between projects in Cronulla and purchases in Engadine, Feros Group has submitted DA to build greenfield Bingara Gorge Country Club, in the massive Wilton master-planned community.
The Country Club is set to be on 7,280sqm overlooking a golf course in the emerging residential community development by Metro Property Group, in Sydney’s south-west.
Feros says it will be “huge”, with the ground floor building covering 2,473sqm and outdoor area of 2,657sqm, slated to accommodate 800-1000 people.
“It’s going to explode down there, and we’re really excited to give the locals somewhere amazing to go,” says Chris Feros, Group CEO.
The venue will comprise a sports bar, family bistro and bar, beer garden and large outdoor kids’ play area, and large function spaces. Overlooking the 18th fairway and backdropped by Bingara Gorge bushland, its semi-rural setting will complement the surroundings.
The design by H&E Architects is made up of separate pavilion-style structures featuring gables, eaves and covered verandas, with modern detailing. Interiors will highlight the warmth of timber cladding and be anchored by stone fireplaces. Between the pavilions will be a variety of internal and external experiences.
Bingara Gorge is a 450-ha site set to include 1,800 homes upon completion in 2024. More than 900 homes have already been completed and over 2,000 residents already live in the community, with its 200-plus hectares of open spaces, featuring a Graham Marsh-designed 18-hole golf course, playgrounds, tennis courts, walk and cycle paths, leisure centre, retail shops, childcare and a primary school.
The average age of Wilton and Wollondilly residents is around 35, and being a short drive from both Campbelltown and Wollongong the Country Club is expected to draw wide appeal.
“We think it will be a proper destination,” suggests Feros. “We’re building it for the locals, but we won’t be surprised if people want to take a drive down the Hume Highway and have a nice experience.”
Although not in the current DA, the family group is already working on the next stage, to add accommodation to the venue.
Metro Property Development is a private residential property developer founded by Luke Hartman in 2010, with a vision to be “nimble, entrepreneurial and adaptable” and now reporting a current project pipeline valued at over $4bn.
Feros’ Country Club will form an integral part of the masterplan, which itself has been bolstered by the NSW Department of Planning and Environment’s plan for the Wilton Growth Area, investing billions of state and federal dollars into the region.
“Bingara Gorge’s Country Club is set to become ‘the meeting place’ for Wollondilly residents,” states Hartman, Metro MD.
“It will be one of the best leisure and entertainment facilities in the region and is the next step in delivering Bingara Gorge’s vision to create a world class residential estate.”
A development application for the Club was lodged earlier this month with Wollondilly Shire Council, which is said to have so far been really supportive and positive about the infrastructure project.
Feros sees construction beginning at the end of the year or early next year, with completion expected late 2024.
“We love the location,” he adds. “We think it’s proximity to Sydney is close enough to not be too far away, and the housing down there is flying.
“It’s going to be a really big pub, and something we’ll be proud of.”
