COOMERA LODGE HOTEL SET FOR AVC MAKEOVER

Australian Venue Co continues its Queensland capex campaign, announcing a major $3 million renovation on Gold Coast stalwart, the Coomera Lodge Hotel.

Taken on as part of the Spirit Hotels portfolio, the Coomera Lodge Hotel is a Sunshine State veteran, established in 1885. It is a prominent fixture of Maudsland Rd, the main road through the precinct, 23 kilometres north-west of the Gold Coast CBD.

The new-look Hotel will include several new outdoor areas, with a public bar terrace, bistro deck and courtyard, large weather-proof outdoor dining space, and a huge beer garden overlooking the river.

A new dining menu will champion quality and affordability, offering pub classics, share plates and tasty pub snacks, and the new kids’ play area – set to be the biggest in the local area – is beside the outdoor dining space, allowing adults to socialise while keeping an eye on the offspring.

Set to be a top-to-bottom refurb, the design is intended to make the most of natural surroundings, incorporating natural stone and concrete, exposed brick, lush greenery and warm timbers.

The concept will focus on “restoring the original charm” of the historic Coomera Lodge, and considered planning will provide patrons plenty of extra space for alfresco drinks and dining.

The main areas closed for renovation 19 July, but some parts of the pub will remain open for trading through much of the works.

Australian Venue Co (AVC) is suggesting an “unbeatable hospitality experience” backed by a line-up of local entertainment, community markets, weekly specials and warm customer service.

Furthering the community engagement, AVC is running a competition to name the new undercover outdoor dining space after a local legend. Locals are being encouraged to submit their suggestions.

AVC has been investing heavily this year in revitalising the Queensland pub landscape, already bringing projects including Kings Beach Hotel in Caloundra, Beenleigh Tavern in Logan and The Wallaby Hotel in Mudgeeraba.

“Pubs are the heart of the local community,” says AVC COO Craig Ellison.

“We are bringing refreshed pubs to the region for locals and visitors to enjoy for decades to come.”

The revived Coomera Lodge Hotel is expected to re-open in early November.
