The Comiskey Group – creators of mega-venues the Sandstone Point Hotel and Eatons Hill Hotel – have announced what is set to become the next Queensland icon, Aura, in the Sunshine Coast.
Aura is set to be the area’s largest music venue and hotel. And it will be within Australia’s largest master-planned community, Stockland Aura, granted a 6-star rating by Green Star and already home to more than 10,000 residents, with the potential for 20,000 new homes and 20,000 on-site jobs upon completion.
The Comiskeys are investing $35 million into what will be the “crown jewel” of Aura’s entertainment hub, offering six bars, gaming room, function spaces and internal and alfresco dining areas.
It intends to further the Sunshine Coast’s reputation as a live music hub, presenting opportunity for local, interstate and international artists to include the precinct on tours, via first-rate entertainment facilities including a world-class PA and lighting system, band room, mezzanine level and capacity for over 2,500 patrons.
“South-east Queensland is where we were born and raised. We are passionate about bringing premium experiences to locations rich with opportunity in this thriving state,” explains Rob Comiskey, Group director.
“We have the largest entertainment offering in the Moreton Bay region and felt it only natural to expand into the neighbouring Sunshine Coast.”
Aura is only 10 minutes from the Group’s recently announced project at Coochin Fields. The brand-new 150-hectare outdoor festival site, around half an hour from Maroochydore, is set to open its doors late 2024.
