BLACK RHINO BACK IN THE SUNSHINE

Dave Tomsic’s Black Rhino Group has swooped on its fifth Queensland pub, snaring the large-format Hotel Hinchinbrook in Ingham.

Around 100 kilometres north of Townsville, Ingham is a town on the Bruce Highway servicing local population approaching 5K residents, plus neighbouring rural communities. It is a popular stop for tourists traveling between Cairns and Townsville.

The Hinchinbrook incorporates a large public and sports bar, gaming with 20 EGMs (Coastal), restaurant and function space. It’s high-profile location, spanning 2,509sqm, enjoys dual street access and opportunity (STCA) for further development.

With few rivals, Tomsic says it’s the best of the bunch in a strong farming town.

“I’m excited about that one,” he replies. “Bought the lease and the freehold.”

The Hotel recently saw flooding and carpet and flooring had to be replaced, which was another drawcard for the Rhino.

“It’s a good size block of land, with strong food and bev’ and gaming,” he continues.

“I’ll end up doing a reno on it, but it’s basically just a grouse all-round hotel. I’m over the moon with it.”

Sale was through an off-market process where industry veterans, freehold owner Brett Watson and leaseholder Marty Smith, engaged JLL Hotels’ Christian Tsalikis and Tom Gleeson.

“The Hotel has seen continual reinvestment over the years providing a great foundation for the incoming purchasers,” say the agents.
