Australian Venue Co is helping the Red Cross help thousands affected by the Queensland and NSW floods, raising money at all its venues nationally through ‘Beers for Mates’.
Until 31 March, $1 from schooners and $2 from pint sales of select beers will be donated to the Red Cross Qld and NSW Floods Appeal.
Intense storms and rainfall across Queensland and northern NSW have caused flash flooding across both regions, leaving tens of thousands of homes and businesses without power or damaged by floodwaters. Many people and families have been evacuated, not knowing when they will be able to return home.
The flooding has also forced road closures, further hampering access for support services and relief.
Donations to Floods Appeal will help Red Cross provide vital humanitarian support to people and communities, which may include enabling help with evacuation, relief centres and outreach services, and supporting people and communities to recover and to build resilience to disasters.
Australian Venue Co (AVC) operates over 180 venues around the country. The Beers for Mates campaign takes in sales of Furphy beer in Victoria, NSW, SA and WA, and sales of XXXX Gold in Queensland and the Northern Territory.
The group says it is proud do what it can to help during the crisis.
“We want to do our part to support those communities in need during this challenging time,” says AVC CEO Paul Waterson.
“We know our customers feel the same way, so this initiative gives them the opportunity raise vital funds while enjoying a beer at their local.”
