AVC PICK UP INCLUSIVE HOTSPOT THE COURT

Australian Venue Co is in The Court, announcing a conditional acquisition agreement to purchase the loud and proud venue in Perth’s entertainment precinct.

Established in 1888, The Court’s long in the city includes its long association with the LGBTQIA+ community, which it has embraced since the 1990s.

For the past 18 years it has been under the steady hand of owner and director Bree Maddox, who boasts a long-term connection with the community and is hailed as an industry leader in entertainment and hospitality.

Entering the welcoming arms of AVC, it’s reported The Court will remain as an all-inclusive venue – and Maddox will become an advisor to the group, consulting on ongoing growth strategies and undertaking activities advocating the hospitality sector.

“I’m very confident in the ability of Australian Venue Co to be a great custodian of The Court in a way that fits with our all-inclusive community and to maintain the unique personality we have established at the venue, so that it remains the best place to party in Perth,” says Maddox, praising AVC’s track record of operating a broad range of venues.

“Our long-term vision for The Court is absolutely aligned and I look forward to assisting the new owners to make a night out at The Court an even better experience in the years ahead.”

AVC currently operates 21 venues in Western Australia, including the recently re-opened Claremont Hotel and The Bassendean Hotel, as well as popular CBD venues The Aviary and Market Grounds.

The group has long fostered an approach of allowing its collection of pubs, in diverse communities, to flourish in their own way. Acquisition of The Court, in a transaction through CBRE’s Aaron Desange, is said to be a “natural fit” for the continually expanding operator.

“We’ve got so much respect for what Bree and her team have built, and it will be a privilege to work with them on the next chapter for this very special venue,” offers AVC CEO Paul Waterson.

“We can’t wait to see what ideas and experience she will bring to our other venues and events, including The Wickham in Brisbane, Big Gay Day, and our entertainment offerings across the country.”
