AVC BRINGING THE DOG TO SYDNEY AND PARMYS TO THE AFL

Australian Venue Co’s partnership with crafty trailblazers BrewDog continues with announcement of the new digs at Sydney’s storied South Eveleigh precinct.

Located within the old locomotive workshop of the historic structure, BrewDog South Eveleigh will incorporate a large indoor dining space, bar and beer garden, making capacity for 720-pax inside and 190- outside.

The all-important drinks menu will offer 40 brews on tap, championed by a line-up of BrewDog draughts, alongside guest beer tap takeovers and collaborations with local breweries. Accompanying these will be more customary spirits, wines, cocktails, ciders, and non-alcoholic options.

Half of the food menu will be BrewDog’s legendary burgers, wings and pizzas, beside an extensive range of vegan and vegetarian options.

The new venue will create 40 new local positions across all roles, and AVC relays it is eager to bring ‘The Dog’ to Sydney.

“The huge beer garden is going to be a hit,” says Evan Gargaro, AVC state manager for NSW. “We can’t wait to open this venue just in time for the Sydney summer.”

South Eveleigh marks the fourth Australian BrewDog site and second in partnership with AVC for its expansion in Australia, following news of BrewDog Pentridge in Melbourne in June, heralding multiple future BrewDog Bars in cities including Sydney and Brisbane.

BrewDog Pentridge is set to open in Spring, within the walls of the infamous Melbourne prison.

BrewDog was founded by James Watt and Martin Dickie, and has become the world’s largest craft beer bar operator. In 2019 it launched BrewDog Brisbane, which has gone on to be one of the Scottish craft brewer’s most successful sites globally, and in early 2021 the company put forth plans to open several new sites across Australia and New Zealand by 2023.

“Australia is one of the most exciting and dynamic craft beer countries in the world,” says Dickie.

The $3.2 million works at South Eveleigh began in August and are slated for completion late 2022.

The design by Studio Y architects is said to be a homage to the rich history of the iconic Locomotive Workshop, crafted around the original workshop machinery collection on display.

South Eveleigh precinct has become a thriving tech and innovation hub, and a “living museum” of Australia’s industrial revolution.

“BrewDog’s new venue is going to be the ultimate final addition to our heritage Locomotive Workshop, complementing the exciting offering of eateries and retail, which opened last year,” pronounced John Fairbairn, portfolio manager for Mirvac.

“A fantastic spot for lunches and dinners in a location like no other, I’m personally looking forward to enjoying a brew or two.”

Meanwhile, furthering its national presence across the AFL Grand Final weekend, AVC is raising money to support charity partner SecondBite by donating $1 from every Parma sold (on Saturday, 24 and Sunday, 25 September) across its 180+ pubs around the country.

SecondBite is Australia’s largest free food rescue not-for-profit organisation, and expert at bite-for-buck. It works with corporate partners such as AVC as well as major retailers and food donors, and during FY22 rescued more than 24 million kilograms of food.

“Every dollar donated by AVC to SecondBite provides the equivalent of five meals for those in need, showing that a small contribution can make a significant impact in the community,” explains Paul Waterson, Australian Venue Co CEO.
