Australian Leisure and Hospitality has marked another key milestone as it announces the overhauled Brook Hotel in Mitchelton.
Hotels arm of the listed Endeavour Group (ASX:EDG), ALH will invest a total of $30.6 million in the development, which includes the newly-opened Dan Murphy’s Mitchelton.
This represents the largest investment the group has made at one of its Queensland hotels, and a significant boost for the local economy.
The revised pub will “feel fresh and aesthetically quite modern” to resonate with patrons, with a public bar, sports bar, function room, gaming room, bistro with outdoor dining terrace and kids’ play area, beer garden, and a four-storey hotel with 40 state-of-the-art rooms.
Announcement of the makeover also triggers commencement of a recruitment drive for various roles across the new and improved venue, in the management, kitchen, accommodation, and front of house teams.
“We are so excited to enter this finishing phase of the project, and we are pleased to be offering up to 90 employment opportunities for those looking to work at one of Brisbane’s most exceptional old hotels re-imagined,” says ALH acting MD Paul Walton.
“The Brook was ready for a refurbishment, and it has been thoughtfully designed to cater to the needs of the local community, and we hope it will become a destination to attract people from across Brisbane to this precinct.”
The next stage – a major facelift of the old hotel – begins this month, targeting re-opening in May. The accommodation is hoping to begin taking bookings from August.
The Brook is currently operating at reduced capacity, but Walton says they will continue to work to minimise patron disruption, and assure them things will only get better.
“We’ve kept the best elements from The Brook of the past too. The fig tree that has stood proudly on the hotel footprint for around 60 years will take pride of place framing the entrance to the new venue.”
