ADELAIDE HOTEL WORKS ART PRIZE

Hurley Hotel Group owners Jenny and Peter Hurley have kick-started a program in support of the Adelaide Central School of Art that raises money for an annual scholarship.

“Peter and I attended the opening of the School’s new Glenside campus in May 2013,” Jenny Hurley told PubTIC.

“We were so impressed by the achievements of this not-for-profit art school that we approached the School’s CEO, Ingrid Kellenbach, to explore partnership opportunities.”

Mid-2014 the inaugural Arkaba Commission awarded $5,000 to a selected graduate of the School to create artworks to hang for 12 months on the walls of the Hotel. The sale of this work will help perpetuate the funding for the Visual Arts (Honours) Scholarship.

“The works will be auctioned tomorrow night at a Gala Dinner and the funds from the dinner and the sale will contribute to an Arkaba Hotel Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours) Scholarship to be established at the Adelaide Central School of Art,” continued Hurley.

The art will remain in place until September 2015, when the new Commission work is unveiled. The 2015 recipient of the annual Commission has just been selected and will be announced on Friday.

Tomorrow night (23 April) over 180 people will attend the Gala Dinner and witness the auction of the first Commission works. Beverages have been supplied by Coopers Brewery, Wicks Estate, Yalumba and Leconfield.

Interested parties can participate or donate by contacting the Arkaba Hotel on 08 8338 1100 or the Arkaba Commission Facebook page.
