HERITAGE HOTEL OPPORTUNITY IN CLARE VALLEY

An hour and a half from Adelaide in the Clare Valley wine region lies the iconic Magpie and Stump Hotel, recently listed for sale.

The hotel has been owned by couple Amanda and Paul Henry for the last eight years, who thoughtfully restored the stone building, combining original features with modern hospitality while maintaining the country pub feel.

The 175-year-old venue is located in the State heritage-listed town of Mintaro, alongside wineries, cellar doors, and other local attractions, and as a community hub is popular with locals and visitors alike.

Alongside a front bar and dining room, Magpie and Stump also boasts a large outdoor area encompassing deck, lawn and bocce court as well as four boutique accommodation rooms.

The historic venue sits on a 1,218sqm site with a high level of visitors all year round. Offering multiple revenue streams, the popular tourist destination is ready to go at $1.65 million.

Amanda Henry said that after almost a decade, the couple are ready to pass the baton.

“We have loved and we are very proud of the journey, from renovations earlier in our tenure just to bring the building up to meet current codes, to its regeneration while ensuring the soul of the pub was honoured, all the way through to introducing newer additions in the outdoor deck and the bocce court.”

McGees Property’s Grant Clarke is offering the freehold and business for sale via private treaty on behalf of the duo.

“This is a rare chance to acquire one of South Australia’s most iconic and historic regional hotels, in the heart of a world-famous wine region,” says Clarke.
