MAROONS’ MUNSTER MAKES MOVE WITH THE MILTON

Cameron Munster, captain of the Queensland State of Origin Maroons, has made a move into hospitality, preparing to open a new pub in Brisbane’s well-known Caxton Street named The Milton.

The Milton, expected to begin trading early March, will be a multi-level local pub, aiming to create a strong sense of community.

Downstairs, the Locker Room will cater to events by day before turning into a ‘late-night’ destination in the evening.

While the rooftop space looks out toward Suncorp Stadium, the pub will be pitched more widely than just to rugby league fans, looking to draw families as well as groups for all occasions.

From casual get togethers to formal functions, The Milton will be a venue that welcomes everyone.

The focus, Munster says, is to create a place where locals will return any day of the week, regardless of whether there is a game on or not, although there are plans to make the pub the go-to venue for game days and major events such as the upcoming Magic Round and State of Origin.

The Milton is envisaged to offer the classic pub experience through modern hospitality. The menu will offer familiar pub dishes, with a nod to Munster in its wagyu “Munster Burger”, while the drinks list will be broad.

The 31-year-old part owner said Caxton Street is a cornerstone of Queensland’s sporting culture, where people gravitate before and after games, so it made sense be part of the project.

“I’ve always wanted to be involved in hospitality,” Munster told the Courier Mail.

“This is about creating something that lasts and really becomes part of the local community.”
