Bayfield Hotel Group has achieved a record total in its fight for the Children’s Cancer Institute, at the 25th-anniversary Trade Luncheon.
Over the past 25 years the austere Trade Luncheon has grown to become one of the most significant philanthropic events in the hospitality industry calendar, and this month VIP industry suppliers gathered at the family’s Belrose Hotel.
As little as 40 years ago a cancer diagnosis was nearly always a death sentence, but advances in medical research mean that today eight out of 10 children survive.
Despite this, three children still die each week in Australia, and the Bayfields stress that outcome is “simply not good enough”. The event posed the bullish sentiment declaring “Curing childhood cancer — It’s not if. It’s when”.
A record-setting total of $430k was raised in 2024, bolstered by Bayfield brothers Mark and Wayne committing to a gruelling 350-kilometre walk for charity that garnered support from both suppliers and industry.

The family knew surpassing this total in 2025 was “a tall order” and it makes this year’s figure even more impressive, with guests again rising to the occasion to donate an unprecedented $560k in support of the Children’s Cancer Institute.
This takes the Group’s fundraising total for the Institute over 25 years to an impressive $5,677,854.
“Last year felt impossible to beat; the generosity we saw was extraordinary,” says Wayne Bayfield.
“So, for the industry to return this year and surpass last year’s momentum with a $560,000 result is truly humbling and speaks volumes about the culture of care and connection within our industry.”
The Luncheon’s success reflects the family’s strong commitment to helping children affected by cancer, but also the continued leadership of Kaine Bayfield and his unwavering commitment to the cause.

His dedication has seen him consistently represent the Group at the CEO Dare to Cure event, this year raising over $23,000. Wayne says his high-profile presence continues to inspire and amplify the impact of the Group’s efforts.
“Kaine showing up for this cause year after year plays a vital role in bringing our industry together and pushing these fundraising records even higher.”
Bayfield Hotel Group is proudly family-owned and operated, boasting more than 45 years in business and a strong tradition of philanthropy, championing meaningful causes through its hotels, bottleshops and established industry partnerships.
Contributions to the Institute have helped fund transformative research producing critical steps in the fight against childhood cancer, including genome sequencing, lab drug screening, relapse detection, and senior researchers.
The 2025 Trade Luncheon had guests bidding to take home one of 14 Live Auction items and more than 100 items in the silent auction, with over $4,500 worth of raffle prizes going to attendees.
“I was blown away by the support, as I am every year!” Kaine told PubTIC.
