TAPIT: FIRST APPROVED EGM APP

Australian gaming systems company Ebet is the first to market with an approved smartphone connection to electronic gaming machines (EGMs).

Tapit makes it easy for patrons to connect to an EGM using their mobile phones, allowing them to transfer funds to and from machines, and earn rewards.

The Tapit ‘tap-and-play’ system leverages the proven Cardit system by Ebet and integrates both NFC and Bluetooth technology within the Player Interface Module (Pathway), which eliminates the need for physical cards.

Tapit works through the Cardit+ mobile app, and has been officially approved for immediate release by NSW Liquor & Gaming to all clubs and hotels in NSW.

Ebet’s Cardit system has been in the market for 20 years. Tapit replaces the plastic card with a mobile device. The company suggests consumers don’t want to have to carry a separate plastic card, and an increasing number of customers are not even carrying a wallet.

The digital membership system was launched in 2023 and finds appeal across generations, with Ebet offering that the first sign-up was a 77-year-old man.

“Since then, we have close to 90,000 active cards in the marketplace and growing. It removes barriers of entry, especially for younger members who do not carry physical wallets or plastic cards,” says Ebet’s Mandy Makryllos.

Tapit requires venues to be using Ebet monitoring, but if already utilising Ebet Pathways the company says upgrading is straightforward.

Gaming in NSW is moving toward cashless, and it’s suggested digital membership and loyalty might be the best places to begin retaining customer engagement.

Ebet believes combining its Joinit digital card and Tapit technology is “a venue game-changer”.

As a majority of Australians become accustomed to using digital devices for all manner of payments and interactions, pubs and clubs are advised to place a high priority on providing “smooth, customised experiences” at all touchpoints – including gaming – to meet the demands of customers.
