Feros Group has secured the $50 million Bingara Gorge Country Club, approved through Wollondilly Shire Council, to be created within Metro Property Development’s residential precinct.
Due to occupy a 7,280sqm parcel of land, adjacent to Bingara Gorge’s golf course in Wilton and complementing a world-class residential estate, the Country Club is set to become south-west Sydney’s newest destination location.
“The tranquil bushland setting will make it an ideal new social amenity for residents to meet friends and neighbours whilst enjoying a culinary delight or cold beverage,” declares Luke Hartman, Metro Property MD.
“The Country Club is an integral part of the masterplan, with the north-easterly location overlooking the 18th fairway.”
Bingara Gorge is a 450-hectare site that will comprise 1,800 homes once completed, this year. Its masterplan already boasts a range of modern recreational amenities, and in June Metro was granted development approval for the project’s new $40 million retail centre.
The Club will be a pavilion-style venue, accommodating 800-1,000 people. It will comprise a family bistro and bar, large outdoor kids’ play area, beer garden, sports bar and multiple function spaces.
The design by H&E Architects is made up of separate ‘pavilion’ structures, featuring gables, eaves and covered verandas, with modern detailing. Pavilions are designed to allow for maximum engagement with the northern aspect.
Interiors will incorporate the warmth of timber cladding and stone fireplaces and it’s suggested the use of natural materials will help it “age gracefully” and meld into the landscape.
The large-format ground floor building will cover 2,473sqm, and between the pavilions will be a variety of internal and external experiences.
This represents another step in the NSW Department of Planning and Environment’s plan for the Wilton Growth Area, which is investing billions of state and federal dollars into the region. It is in keeping with Council’s push for more visitor accommodation across the Shire, and Wollondilly Mayor Matt Gould believes it will be a “great tourism asset”.
A development application was submitted in May, heralding more than 100 jobs required during construction and over 100 permanent positions when completed.
Feros Group was chosen as the preferred operator to operate the new venue, and group CEO Chris Feros sees it as a fantastic opportunity and says it will be “a proper destination”.
“The team has worked on this project for many years with a significant amount of designing and preparing the plans for the site.
“This venue will set a new standard for locals and visitors to the area.
“We’re building it for the locals, but we won’t be surprised if people want to take a drive down the Hume Highway and have a nice experience.”
The operators already have their sights set on the next stage, being to add accommodation to the venue.
Construction is expected to begin on the Country Club later this year, with completion slated for late 2025.
