A pub in Brisbane was forced to close during peak hours last Friday night, after it was discovered a woman was stuck in the roof.
Around 4:30pm emergency services were called to the Albany Creek Tavern, in Albany Creek, where it was reported a disturbance was taking place in a public bar.
Officers from Queensland Police Service responding to the call found a 48-year-old woman had seemingly climbed through a manhole in the pub’s ceiling.
The women refused to get down. Subsequently, guests were cleared as authorities undertook safety measures to deal with the situation. A police spokesperson said the woman appeared to be affected by drugs.
“At approximately 5pm as a result of the power needing to be disconnected, the pub was evacuated.”
Management of the Tavern issued a statement confirming the pub was not trading that evening.
“Due to an emergency the venue is currently closed. We will update as soon as the situation changes,” it read.
At some point in the next couple of hours officers were able to convince the woman to leave the roof.
“Police negotiated with the woman, and she climbed down at around 6.50pm.”
She was transported by ambulance to hospital, and the pub was able to reopen at 7pm.
Investigations into the incident continue.
