SYDNEY RETURNS TO RESTRICTIONS OVER COVID SCARE

A case of unexplained community transmission has prompted a snap return to restrictions for the Greater Sydney area – including the Central Coast, Wollongong and Blue Mountains.

NSW Health authorities are working to trace new COVID-19 local infections, and renewed COVID restrictions came into immediate effect on Thursday at 5pm.

The restrictions dictate:

  • Masks are compulsory on public transport and in public indoor venues
  • Front-of-house hospitality workers must wear a mask
  • No singing at indoor shows or by congregants at indoor places of worship
  • No dancing at indoor hospitality venues or nightclubs. Some flexibility for weddings
  • Patrons must be seated when drinking at indoor hospitality venues
  • Visitors to aged care facilities limited to two people
  • Household gatherings can have up to 20 visitors, including children

The restrictions are currently only in place until 12.01am Monday 10 May, pending any further developments.

Service NSW urges anyone with any COVID-19 symptoms to get tested immediately and self-isolate until they receive a negative result.

Meanwhile, the Betoota Advocate is rooting for the “old mate” in his 50s believed to be the conduit for the latest scare, hoping he was successful in his quest for a new BBQ.

The gent in question reportedly left a screening of The Courier at Bondi to dine at Rushcutters Bay, before undertaking a journey to no less than four BBQ stores, in Silverwater, Annandale and Casula before returning to Bondi – presumably successful – to patronise The Meat Store.
