SARAH SANDS GOING ROUND FOR ROUND WITH AFL FANS

The Sarah Sands Hotel is going “Round for Round” this AFL season, matching bar tabs for all who come to watch the game.

Footy fan patrons are being urged to head to Brunswick to set up a bar tab before the first bounce, and the Round for Round program will double it – up to $150 each, making a total of $300 to spend across both food and drink.

Unsurprisingly, the iconic venue is fast becoming the pub of choice for Brunswick footy fans.

Built in 1854, the Sarah Sands Hotel has seen many changes over the years, the last few decades trading as Bridie O’Reilly’s. In 2019, Melbourne-based Australian Venue Co (AVC) added the leasehold to their impressive list of historic pubs – including Melbourne’s oldest licensed pub, The Duke of Wellington – with a core value of celebrating each venue’s heritage and character.

After a makeover delivering a new pub dining room, kitchen and bar, and returning to the original name, AVC has focussed on once again making Sarah Sands Hotel a local favourite.

The menu focusses on high-quality pub classics, with ample choices for vegetarians and those who are after gluten free, and options for the kids.

The group sources new Sarah Sands front- and back-of-house staff locally, taking pride in reviving a long-shuttered local and to “return it to the local community” of Brunswick.

“Finding ways to revitalise heritage venues and update them to meet the needs of locals is something we take so much pride in at Australian Venue Co.” says AVC CEO Paul Waterson.
