Addressing the rising popularity of the Rosé spritz, Riot Wine Co has overcome the problems for venues and consumers with its spritz-in-keg solution.
Riot Wine Co (RWC) created the R!OT Rosé Spritz in 2019, but notes the side-effects of the increasingly popular ‘spritz’ of high wastage and slow speed for venue owners, and inconsistency in quality and flavour for consumers.
Stainless steel kegs are a superior packaging format, guaranteeing zero light or oxygen penetration and a consistent flavour profile.
After months of R&D and blending sessions in its South Australian lab, RWC found the perfect balance of 10 natural botanicals, delivering the bittersweet taste profile synonymous with a spritz cocktail.
RWC says its R!OT Rosé Spritz balances bitterness from citrus such as blood orange and passionfruit with a slight sweetness from the grape juice, delivering a taste that is “100 per cent pure refreshment”.
The product boasts only 78 calories and 3.6g of sugar per 150mL serve, with ABV of 8 per cent, positioning it as a perfect summer drink, while the company’s strong sustainability credentials will provide additional appeal for certain markets, particularly younger drinkers.
Tom O’Donnell and Joe Cook founded Riot Wine Co in 2016. As chief winemaker O’Donnell says the Australian company continues to work on and benefit from its proprietary solutions.
“Like all of our R!OT wines, we own the process end-to-end, from sourcing grapes, to winemaking to packaging.
“The most exciting element in making our R!OT Rosé Spritz is that we could design the liquid to taste exactly as we intended.
“It has all the beautiful citrus aromas you would expect from a traditional spritz, without all the sugar.”
R!OT Rosé Spritz is available in kegs through the Riot Wine Company website.
