Hundreds of publicans tuned in to see a panel of industry heavyweights brainstorm what lies ahead as licensed venues navigate out of restrictions and lockdowns.
Pubs, clubs, trade and associations came together for the webinar last week, discussing issues including staffing, policing unvaccinated patrons, vaccination passports, and problems that might arise once unvaccinated people are allowed to work or be in venues.
The webinar, a joint initiative between Banktech and UTOPIA Gaming Systems, had as guests former Federal politician and director of Laundy Hotels Craig Laundy, alongside Don Hammond, CEO of Leagues Clubs Australia, and Morgan Stewart, CEO of Blacktown Workers Club.
The organisers report close to 500 registrations, tuning in to hear and share thoughts on the road ahead.
Laundy, a leading advocate for the industry, voiced concern over where venues face the greatest challenges, in particular the pending removal of restrictions for the unvaccinated, expected in NSW on 1 December.
“The three main areas that I see where we’re exposed, are work health and safety laws, industrial relations laws, and then civil claims for something like wrongful death.”
Henry Kiwarkis from Banktech also reminded operators to cash up all their ATMs, CRTs and Cash Recyclers and test them now, lest they encounter problems on Monday.
