Redcape Hotel Group has made good on aspirational plans at its top-performing Cabramatta Hotel with a multi-million-dollar renovation and community tilt.
In late 2017 RHG negotiated a deal with landlords the Bowden family for the $45 million purchase of the freehold to its successful Cabramatta pub.
The large-format venue – long known as the Cabramatta Inn – has previously been Top5 in the Liquor & Gaming list of NSW pubs, and at #7 when RHG acquired the title it was prime for a makeover.
RHG had begun planning a renovation since 2015, and the consolidation and re-stapling furthered the resolve to broaden the business’ offering and deliver a “high-quality community pub” for all market occasions.
Nearly two years later, a $7 million overhaul of the newly-branded Cabramatta Hotel is open to the public, now including northern Chinese cuisine in the elegant Sleek & Stone restaurant, TAB, and opulent VIP gaming lounge experience.
The overhauled bar provides a broad beverage range including cocktails, such as the watermelon mojitos, and espresso martinis on tap, beyond the obligatory ice-cold draught beer keeping blue-collar patrons happy.
There is a distinct angle toward family-friendly, aided by the new beer garden with retractable all-weather roof.
The project was a challenge to balance the history of a 131-year-old landmark with the right modernisation for the evolving precinct, around 40 kilometres from the CBD, in western Sydney heartland.
“Cabramatta is home to a vibrant, flourishing community deserving of investment in its future,” states RHG CEO Dan Brady.
“A core focus of Redcape is our continued investment in our facilities to provide excellent social spaces for local communities to come together. We do this across 32 different communities, and we were excited by the opportunity to bring this to Cabramatta.”
RHG maintains a pipeline of capex and improvements at its venues, reporting circa $20 million spent in FY19 and similar projected for FY20.
“We are excited to be able to continue to bring quality establishments to the local communities in which we operate, and deliver the types of returns we are able to achieve through these projects to our shareholders.”
