The Gravanis brothers’ Oscars Hotels has won the deal to construct a new mixed-use hotel at Frasers Property’s multi-billion-dollar Shell Cove development.
This week Shellharbour City Council and Frasers announced Oscars had been granted the right to the new as-yet unnamed hotel, set to overlook the marina.
The design, pending DA approval in 2020, takes inspiration from the nautical world, and will count 117 rooms, 32 serviced apartments and 42 residential apartments over 11 levels, with a recreation deck and communal space on level two.
It will also offer a gym, sauna, conference facilities, three restaurants and two pools – one for hotel guests, and another on the top floor for residents.
Oscars has purchased the freehold site, and hope the construction, projected to cost north of $70 million and take more than 18 months, will begin late 2020 and be ready for trading by Christmas 2022.
DBI Design has been appointed architect, and a tender process for the construction will be undertaken early next year.
The Gravanis’ group portfolio counts 30 venues across the State, including accommodation offerings the Novotel Northbeach and the Quality Suites Pioneer Sands at Towradgi.
The Oscars news follows the recent announcement Joel Fisher and Andrew Denmeade’s new vehicle Balmoral will be building the tendered The Waterfront Hotel at Shell Cove, slated to open early 2021.
