MERIVALE BUSTS OUT PRE-SUMMER BEER OH BEER CHEER

Merivale is back on the pre-summer promotion wagon, offering a month of activities including (almost) half-price beers during its Beer Oh Beer Festival.

The month-long Festival features 49 per cent off schooners of beer at most venues, taking place Monday 12 September to Sunday 19 September, from 5-7pm.

Other events include ‘Barrel o’ Laughs’ every Tuesday in September at the Beresford, the ‘Tins of Glory’ competition offering a year’s supply of Balter, and ‘Pot of Gold’ where patrons buy a beer for a chance to win $15k cash.

The half-ish price beer offer does not extend to Allianz Stadium or Sydney Cricket Ground, where Merivale was awarded hospitality partner late last year.

However, the Stadium has provided its own promotions, last week offering the same 49 per cent off on all beverages, for the first two hours of both Friday and Saturday night.

Justin Hemmes has come under some fire recently for the price of beers at the new Stadium, and faced Jim Wilson on 2GB’s Drive show, who claimed the food and beverage costs were “exorbitant” and not affordable for families.

The lowest priced beer at the Stadium is reportedly $9.30, and a more premium offering of Stone & Wood is $13.40.

Defending the pricing at the new billion-dollar venue, Hemmes noted that a schooner of Tooheys New (for example) at the stadium was only a $1 more than at many Sydney pubs, and that the Stone & Wood, judged to be ‘unaffordable’, was the best-selling option at the venue.

Beer Oh Beer activations continue throughout September.
