MAN STABBED OUTSIDE PUNCHBOWL PUB

Arrests have been made after multiple stabbings in Punchbowl in recent days, including outside a hotel on Saturday night.

Emergency services responded around 11.15pm to a report a man was being assaulted with a knife outside the Mirage Hotel, on Punchbowl Road.

The perpetrator is believed to have left the scene before police arrived, but police found a 47-year-old man with multiple stab wounds. He was treated at the scene by paramedics and transported to hospital, but the injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Officers from Campsie Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced enquiries, which led to a 43-year-old man being arrested at a residence in Bankstown.

The unnamed man was taken to Campsie Police Station, where he was charged with affray, and wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. His bail was refused bail, to appear again before Parramatta Local Court.

Meanwhile, another man is in custody after allegedly stabbing his father multiple times around 11am today, outside a home in Punchbowl.

The older man, in his 50s, suffered several wounds and is understood to have called an ambulance for himself. He was rushed to Liverpool Hospital, with reportedly critical injuries.

A man in his 30s was subsequently arrested at the home and taken to Bankstown police station for questioning.

The two knife attacks in Punchbowl are not thought to be related.
