Australian hospitality stalwart and honorary doctor Max Hitchins has published a guide for publicans in post-pandemic times, boasting wisdom from strategists around the globe.
Max Hitchins has been a face of Australian pubs for many decades, commonly called both the Hospitality Doctor, and MelbourneCupMax.
The former is a reference to his books helping operators get their businesses back on track, while the latter is regarding his memorisation of more than a century of Melbourne Cup results and history.
Suffering lockdown with the rest of Australia, Max was struck by proactive measures being employed by some businesses to stay in the minds of customers, inspiring him to reach out to his network of professionals from every corner of the globe and brainstorm ideas.
“Top operators are already addressing the challenges of changing consumer expectations,” says Max.
The e-book includes dozens of submissions and ideas by leaders from AVC to Teddy Roosevelt, innovation ranging from PR tips and Tik-tok marketing to WAITT and a German eatery suggesting “pay any amount”, and tech from augmented reality to robots that serve in restaurants and zap bacteria.
“Guests are going to need reassuring that hotels are scrupulously sanitised,” notes the Doctor.
